Position: Technical Services Representative / Water Treatment Operator

BWS Solutions is an integrated services provider for all Building Water Systems(BWS). BWS Solutions products and services include, but are not limited to:

• Water treatment chemicals, pumps, and dosing systems for cooling towers, boilers and water features

• Legionella testing, EOCP certification, permit management

• Cooling tower and water feature cleaning and disinfection

• Glycol, pot feeders, side stream filtration and various other supplemental equipment

BWS Solutions has a opening for a Technical Services Representative based in Greater Vancouver. The following is a description of the role. The individual will report directly to the Operations Manager and be responsible for day to day activities that include, but are not limited to the following:

• Water sample collection and testing in residential, commercial, and industrial settings

• Reporting and communicating through various means, such as meetings, phone calls, email and texting

• Consulting, coaching and supporting customers

• Cleaning cooling towers and water features which includes minor maintenance

• Delivery and application of chemicals at customer sites

The role is primarily field based, though requires office work for reporting and various administrative tasks. Office work is conducted in a combination of home office, at coworkers houses, and may transition to an office should the company elect to pursue a physical office in the future.

Field work is conducted primarily in mechanical rooms of various residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The mechanical rooms can be located on a roof top or in the lower levels of a parkade depending on building construction/type. Mechanical rooms can be loud, hot and/or cold depending on the season. All PPE and training will be provided to conduct work safely.

As part of the job is to monitor water quality through sampling and testing, adjustments to water chemistry are routinely needed which may include, use of wall mounted automated computer systems, turning of valves, and the application of chemicals. Part of BWS Solutions offering is delivery of chemicals, which on occasion will include carrying chemical pails(~50lbs) up a few flights of stairs, depending on where the chemical needs to be applied. All training in properly handling and application of chemicals will be provided prior to doing so.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 430pm with reciprocating flexibility. 

What does reciprocating flexibility mean? BWS Solutions provides flexibility to its employees in that they do need to work exactly 8am to 430pm, but have some flexibility, with prior manager approval to adjust start and end times so they are suitable for both the employee and company. The expectation is this flexibility is provided in return from the employee should an occasional after hours phone call or weekend customer site visit be required.
